Feniscowles CC 2010

Feniscowles Cricket Club

30/04/2010 - Obituary

This edition of a ‘View From The Chair’ is a very sad one. On Saturday 24th April, whilst playing for Withnell Fold 2XI versus Longridge in the Palace Shield; Anthony Edmondson, a former player of Feniscowles CC collapsed on the field of play and despite the efforts by many people to revive him, he sadly passed away in Chorley Hospital aged 42 years old.

I personally knew Tony for many years through playing against him and having the odd drink or two with him. He was a very hardworking person. I first came across Tony when he started playing for the Jubilee. He later played for Vauxhall who then became the Bull’s Head that in turn then became the Witton Inn. For the 2010 season the team moved to Withnell Fold. He will also be remembered for being a very good bowler who very rarely bowled a bad ball and could also chip in with the odd run or two when needed.

God bless Tony, he will be sadly missed by his parents Ken and Marie and by his many friends, work colleagues, team mates and opponents who knew him over the years, you were a true gentleman in every sense of the word.

Rest In Peace

I would like to thank both the 1XI and 2XI Captain’s and players who wore black armbands and observed a minutes silence  before their respective games on Sunday - A great gesture for a great lad!

01/04/2010 - Welcome
Welcome to a new season at Feniscowles Cricket Club and new chairman; for those of you that don’t know me (not many of you won’t) I am Dave Ashcroft, I have been at the club just under 15 years.

I started and played in the 4th team and rose through the ranks to take over from Brian Hopwood, who I would like to thank for all the hard work he put in as chairman; I hope I can follow suit.

My aim is for the club to get back in the 1st Division this season and hopefully stay there for the duration.

Good luck to all players young and ‘experienced’ from the under 11’s right through to the 1st team and if anyone wishes contact me throughout the season, please feel free to do so.

I would ask that all players get behind their respective captains and give them all the support they can and hopefully a very enjoyable season will be had by all.

Finally if anyone can get anymore sponsorship money however large or small, it would be very much appreciated; please contact our secretary Pete Brennan with the details.

Many Thanks

Dave Ashcroft
